STATE POLITICS

Support Tom DiNapoliCSEA’s toolkit in support of our friend, state Comptroller Tom DiNapoli is now live. The toolkit includes flyers, social media materials and other information for you to share with your co-workers, family and friends. Visit the DiNapoli page by using this link. CSEA is proud to support DiNapoli’s re-election, especially as he faces a primary this year. He has been a strong partner to working people and has consistently protected our retirement fund and financial future. Now is the time to come together and support a leader who understands what is at stake for CSEA members and retirees. Visit the site to learn more, access resources and find ways to get involved.

State budget – The CSEA Legislative & Political Action Department has released a summary of the FY2027 Enacted State Budget. In addition to the historic reforms to Tiers 5 & 6, the budget includes several positive provisions for CSEA members, including:

  • An expansion of the Work Zone Speed Camera Program to all highways owned and operated by the State.
  • Increased funding to State Agencies and local governments.
  • Additional funding for SUNY, including new capital funding for SUNY Hospitals.
  • Significant investments to put the State on a path towards universal, affordable childcare.

Full details are available on our website.

LEGISLATIVE ALERT

Legislation to provide Court Officers with the ability to retire at age 55 with 30 years of service has passed both houses of the State legislature! While the bill still awaits the Governor’s signature, this is a major victory! We’re one step closer to ensuring that these officers have access to a fair retirement plan! This only happened because members got involved, your advocacy made the difference. Every email mattered, every phone call mattered, every member who took action mattered. This victory is proof that when CSEA members stand together and make their voices heard, we can achieve meaningful change. Thank you for speaking up, getting involved, and helping move this legislation across the finish line!
