NEW EMPLOYEES

Receivers, thank you for continuing to distribute notices in your work locations.  Please be certain to keep an eye out for new employees and add them to your distribution list.  Members, it is important for you to encourage new employees to sign up for membership online at www.cseany.org.  It is quick, easy, secure, and the new employee will get an instant confirmation via email that their application has been submitted.  Those employees that are non-members are basically letting you carry them when you pay your dues and they are taking advantage of the contract, benefits and protections that your dues dollars have gone to create and maintain.  We are very proud of our 99+% membership rate in this Local, and in order to keep our Union strong, we need these new employees to join our numbers.  If you have any question as to whether or not a new employee his signed up, please let me know.

UNION DUES DEDUCTION ERROR

CSEA has been informed that as a result of a mistake made by the State Comptroller’s office, there may be an error in the 9/18/19 paycheck regarding dues deductions.  Anyone that has had extra dues taken from their 9/18/19 paycheck will see a correction of the error in the 10/16/19 paycheck.  It is our understanding most variances in the dues deduction should amount to less than a dollar and that this did not affect all employees.

NEW EMPLOYEE ORIENTATION BOOKLET

Many of us either never attended a new employee orientation (us “seasoned” employees) because no such thing existed or others attended a new employee orientation many, many years ago.  In the last year, CSEA has produced a New Employee Orientation guide in digital format that we now send out to new employees prior to an orientation.  It is attached here for your information.  You’re urged to take a look through the pamphlet on your own time to make sure you are aware of the benefits that you’re entitled to as a member, benefits that put money back in your pocket and/or save you and your family money.  You probably know that CSEA and the Local provide scholarship opportunities, but did you know that AFSCME also provides numerous scholarships (due by end of calendar year)?  Are you aware that you and your family are entitled to a free online two-year degree in over a dozen categories?  Did you know you have access to discounts at the YMCA, Orlando Vacations, Goodyear Tire discounts, Driver Safety Program (discount on auto insurance), Mortgage programs, discount on your cell service with AT&T (and more)?  Take a few minutes to look through the attached booklet to learn more. (Note:  The file is too large to post on the website, so if you would like a copy, email me at don@csealocal334.com.)
